Community

Walton prides itself on being involved in the wider community through its support of several different programs.

The Australian Red Cross Club Red Corporate Program

More recently, Walton has become part of the Club Red Corporate Program for the Australian Red Cross, giving employees the opportunity to regularly donate blood during office hours. As well as assisting Australians with a critical need, this helps reinforce team spirit.

Sheldon College Annual Sponsorship

For the last two years, Walton has also been privileged to have the opportunity to provide a 12-month sponsorship of a student at Sheldon College located in Capalaba Queensland. Walton receives regular updates on the pupil’s progress at this college which is renowned for its excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits.

Very Special Kids

Walton Construction continues to support Very Special Kids through regular donations. Very
Special Kids supports familes throughout their experience for caring for children with
life-threatening illnesses from diagnosis through to recovery or bereavement.

Property Industry Foundation

Walton Construction are Platinum Sponsors of the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) and we regularly fundraise for National Hard Hat Day and Chocs for Socks in the wintertime.  We are serious about supporting the goals of the foundation to put kids out of harm's way and into the workforce and, where we can, into the construction industry.  We actively attend functions and events and encourage staff to participate in Workabees and to volunteer for PIF-related working with children-at-risk events.

In 2009, while working on the Abbotsleigh Junior School project, an unexpected addition project evolved when the school was looking at removing its demountable buildings.  Walton's involvement with the Property Industry Foundation's work with disadvantaged children led to a negotiation between the school and Mission Australia's Triple Care Farm at Robertson.  Walton successfully project managed the relocation and installation of the buildings to the delight of all parties involved.

In response to a private request from Triple Care and the Property Industry Foundation, one of our Project Managers arranged the delivery of $8,000 worth of new scaffolding for Triple Care to use in the training of young people for their Scaffolding Ticket - enabling them to build skills on the Farm and become employable within the construction industry.
