PROJECT: Chuan Spa
Architect: Bate & Web
Chuan Spa was a highly complex fit out, which included the installation of a new external
spa, internal health and relaxation facilities and a refurbished lap pool, all within a fully
operational hotel. The project unfolded in three stages, and comprised of a two level, high
quality specialist fit out. The works were undertaken within a fully occupied and operational
facility which required precise management and co-ordination with the Langham Hotel to
work around their commitments, as well as gaining access above and below the restaurants
and guest suites. Through good communication and management between the architects,
client and Walton, the project was completed with minimal disturbance to the hotel, and within
the program times.
Working within a 24/7 operational hotel provided many
challenges with coordination and material access whilst
minimising disturbance to the hotel staff and guests. The
project team including the client, architect, builder and
consultant team worked very closely in order to resolve any
potential issues that could arise during the project. Good
communication and management by the project team also
resulted in a successful project that was delivered within
scheduled parameters despite numerous latent conditions and
access difficulties.
