PROJECT: AECOM Maunsell Bassett
Architect: Bligh Voller Nield
Walton Construction was engaged as builder to fit out levels 8, 9 and 10 for its client, AECOM
Maunsell Bassett. The fit out comprised of a public floor (level 9) with client reception,
meeting facilities and two large boardrooms as well as office partitioning and informal
meeting and layout areas. Levels 8 and 10 are very similar in layout except for subtle
differences in materials and colours.
A noteworthy feature of the project is the interconnecting staircase with a striking wire mesh
wall and toughened glass balustrade that ties together the three levels.
The steel stringers for the stair had to be supplied in three
lengths per floor due to lack of access and capacity of the goods
lift. They were then welded together and hoisted into position.
Walton Construction encountered and overcame significant
structural and logistical challenges during construction,
including construction of the company's communications room
which was needed four weeks before the completion of the rest
of the building.
