The St Stephen’s School at Algester involved the construction of three individual general learning areas and an after school care facility. The main construction was structural steel frame and brickwork façade with metal clad roofing. General Learning Area 10 was constructed with bondor panels. This provided a dramatic difference in the aesthetic appeal of the project and the ability to use the space as a meeting and function area as well as for teaching.
The general learning areas were constructed between the reception of the school and primary grade teaching rooms. Obviously with the erection of structural steel, positioning of cranes and delivery of materials, works needed to be coordinated carefully. The project was completed within the original construction programme and Walton also completed a number of variations within the existing school during this time to upgrade the facility in line with the new construction. |
