Walton Construction was appointed to undertake the design and construction of a new shopping centre project in Mount Gambier Market Place, South Australia. This new neighbourhood centre offers a Big W with mezzanine, Woolworths supermarket, Masters Hardwarestore, specialty shops, showroom, car parking for 1144 cars total on site, loading bays and intersection upgrade with new signals.
Walton was charged with assisting during the detailed design stage of the Mount Gambier Market Place development and was the lead coordination consultant responsible for design, design coordination, build ability, value engineering, cost management and fulfilling the Woolworths requirements of the development.
Our team led the design team during Detailed Design Meetings and also undertook additional testing, investigation and reporting enabling all unknown risks to be removed from this project.
Walton was required to provide and manage a detailed construction program ensuring meticulous planning to liaise with the client and allow for completion of the project in separable portions. We dealt with multiple stakeholders in individual tenancies to ensure timely fitout access for Big W, Woolworths, Masters Hardware and specialty store.
The centre offers a convenient shopping experience with a good mix of retail tenants. The high grade design and accessible car parking, of approximately 1144 dedicated parks, ensures the centre serves as a retail hub for the local community.
Whilst the full site team working on this remote project in South Australia was relocated for the duration of the works, the project was managed from our Brisbane office.
